Commercial Maintenance Technician
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay: $25-$29/hour
Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends based on service needs)
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Maintenance Technician to support a variety of commercial properties throughout the Detroit area. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and utilizing a wide range of maintenance and repair skills.
The successful candidate will travel to customer sites within an assigned territory, performing preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and general facility upkeep. A company vehicle, tools, and technology will be provided to help you succeed in the role.
What You'll Do Facility Maintenance & Repairs- Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs on commercial building systems and equipment.
- Handle routine plumbing repairs, including toilets, urinals, faucets, valves, and related fixtures.
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues, including lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, ballasts, sockets, and related components.
- Complete painting, drywall repair, carpentry, and general building maintenance projects.
- Maintain walls, floors, doors, and other building components to ensure facilities remain clean, functional, and professional in appearance.
- Assist with basic HVAC and mechanical system maintenance as needed.
- Conduct facility and asset inspections.
- Utilize mobile technology to access work orders, document completed work, and submit reports.
- Capture photos and complete service documentation accurately and promptly.
- Track time, materials, and expenses through company systems.
- Build positive relationships with customers and provide exceptional service.
- Communicate effectively regarding repair status, maintenance needs, and project recommendations.
- Provide input and estimates for larger repair projects when necessary.
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry regulations.
- Participate in ongoing safety training and team meetings.
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment at all times.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in commercial, industrial, or facilities environments.
- Experience with multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, or general building maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily service calls.
- Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and digital work order systems.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Commercial facilities maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and building operations.
- Relevant trade certifications or technical training.
