Lead Platform Administrator / Platform Manager 

Duration: 6 Months - Contract to Hire 
Pay Rate:
 $80/hr
Conversion Salary: $150-160K base
Hours: 40/week - Business hours CST
Location: 100% remote

Role Overview

This is a player/coach role responsible for leading enterprise data and analytics platform operations. The position ensures platform scalability, performance, security, and alignment with business goals while providing both technical leadership and team development. The platform ecosystem includes cloud data services, analytics tools, and containerized (Kubernetes) environments.


Technical Qualifications
  • 6+ years of related experience
  • Strong expertise in enterprise data, analytics, and cloud compute platforms (e.g., Databricks, Kubernetes)
  • Experience driving platform standards across security, governance, automation, CI/CD, and operations
  • Background in DevOps and platform engineering, including infrastructure as code and environment lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization, scalability, and reliability engineering
  • Ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Databricks certification is a plus (not required)

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design, implementation, and operations of cloud data platform infrastructure, including compute, clusters, and workloads
  • Define and enforce platform policies, governance, and operational standards aligned to business needs
  • Oversee data governance, access controls, and platform security (e.g., service principals, SQL warehouses, Delta Sharing)
  • Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure, user management, and access processes
  • Monitor platform health, enforce tagging/naming standards, and ensure best practice compliance
  • Ensure backup/recovery processes and ongoing access reviews
  • Provide escalation support and troubleshooting for complex platform issues
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members
  • Establish and enforce DevOps standards, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated compliance across environments
