Lead Software Engineer / Lead Data Engineer (Hybrid position)
Location: DFW - Hybrid at 3x per week in office
Domain: Healthcare, Technology
Contract to Hire: Starting at 6-months, 1-2 year total duration expected on contract. Potential for conversion to full-time employment/permanent thereafter
Pay Rate: $75-85 W2
Must already have 2 years Lead / Team Mentorship experience and 8+ years as a hands-on Data Engineer & Application/Software Developer. C#/.Net, Azure, Spark and Databricks experience required
Overview
Lead an engineering team in building scalable, high-quality software solutions, including a Spend Management Intelligence Platform. Provide hands-on technical leadership, foster team growth, and drive engineering excellence. Partner with Product, Architecture, and Delivery teams to align technology with business goals while advancing AI, automation, and modern data platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable, high-performance applications
- Provide technical guidance and drive sound engineering decisions
- Contribute to code and ensure quality through code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and security best practices
- Partner with Product and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions
- Prioritize work, manage risks, and ensure timely execution
- Mentor and develop engineers, promoting accountability and growth
- Foster collaboration, resolve challenges, and drive continuous improvement
- Lead retrospectives and optimize engineering processes
- Champion AI, automation, and emerging technologies
- Drive innovation in data platforms, pipelines, and analytics using technologies such as Databricks and Spark
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders
- Collaborate with Architecture, CloudOps, and Security teams to maintain alignment
- 8+ years of Software Development experience, including 2+ years in a Technical Leadership or Mentorship role
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, and application security
- Proficiency in Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, or similar languages
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Proven ability to design and build scalable distributed systems and microservices
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Hands-on experience with Spark, Databricks, and large-scale data platforms
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and distributed data systems
- Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and lakehouse architectures
- Experience with streaming or real-time data processing preferred
- Exposure to AI/ML and data-driven applications preferred
