Job Description

Job Title: Senior Product Manager / Product Owner
Location: Chicago IL
Onsite Requirements: Hybrid
Compensation Range: $75-80/hr

Introduction
Our client is looking for a Senior Product Manager / Product Owner to help shape the next generation of an enterprise SaaS analytics platform. This person will take ownership of the customer-facing product experience as a legacy application is modernized into a more streamlined, scalable solution. The role will work closely with Product, Engineering, UX, Data, and customer-facing teams to define priorities, improve workflows, incorporate analytics and AI capabilities, and guide features from discovery through launch. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in an evolving environment, turning customer and business needs into actionable product requirements, and balancing near-term delivery with the development of a consistent long-term user experience. This is a product leadership role rather than a traditional project management or software development position.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
* Work alongside Product and Engineering leaders to establish priorities, maintain delivery momentum, and improve the team's Agile operating rhythm.
* Manage and continuously prioritize the product backlog, ensuring work is clearly defined, appropriately scoped, and ready for engineering.
* Use Azure DevOps (ADO) to maintain accurate visibility into product work, priorities, dependencies, and delivery status.
* Partner with UX/UI designers to turn concepts, mockups, and prototypes into actionable requirements, including workflow details, usability considerations, and edge cases.
* Break complex initiatives into practical releases, features, and user stories; lead refinement and support estimation and sequencing.
* Coordinate dependencies across Engineering, UX, Product, Data, platform teams, and other stakeholders, escalating blockers and decisions when needed.
* Ensure modernization efforts remain aligned with the overall product roadmap while identifying critical legacy functionality that must be retained or replaced.
* Help define and manage feature scope across early-access, beta, GA, and future product releases.
* Collaborate with technical teams on product decisions and encourage consistent, reusable UX patterns rather than one-off solutions.
* Connect customer feedback, research, design decisions, product strategy, and engineering execution so teams maintain clear traceability from problem to solution.
* Lead product-focused sprint reviews and help coordinate UAT, business validation, release preparation, and go-live decisions.
* Work with early users to validate functionality, gather feedback, monitor adoption, and identify opportunities for continued product improvement.
* Help create consistency across related product areas, particularly around navigation, permissions, and common user workflows.
* Evaluate practical applications for AI and emerging technologies, including conversational experiences and automated or orchestrated insights.
* Encourage the use of AI-enabled tools and techniques throughout product discovery, requirements writing, documentation, testing, and validation.
* Present product direction, priorities, release plans, risks, and tradeoffs to leadership and cross-functional partners.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* 8+ years of Product Management or Product Ownership experience, preferably supporting technical, data, platform, or front-end products.
* Hands-on experience working with UX/UI teams and translating designs into development requirements.
* Background with analytics products, embedded BI, dashboards, visualization tools, or similar data-driven user experiences.
* Working knowledge of AI-powered analytics, conversational interfaces, automated insights, or other emerging data/AI experiences.
* Understanding of data concepts including metrics, dimensions, metadata, methodology, and the factors that establish trust in analytical outputs.
* Experience helping modernize, replace, or consolidate legacy applications.
* Strong experience managing product backlogs in ADO, Jira, or similar platforms, including writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
* Track record of delivering or evolving complex enterprise SaaS products.
* Experience gathering customer feedback, supporting beta programs, or incorporating user research into product decisions.
* Ability to partner effectively with engineers, architects, designers, data professionals, and business stakeholders.
* Strong ability to bring structure to ambiguous problems and coordinate priorities across multiple teams.
* Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder-management abilities.
* Strong customer focus and ability to translate user pain points into meaningful product improvements.
* Independent, inquisitive approach with the ability to learn new business processes, technologies, and domains without extensive formal training.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
* Experience with Sigma or another embedded analytics / BI platform.
* Exposure to product analytics and instrumentation tools such as Amplitude.
* Experience incorporating AI tools into product management and development workflows.
* Demonstrated ability to streamline team processes and improve product delivery.
* Prior experience in healthcare or healthcare technology.
* Experience supporting product positioning, launch planning, or go-to-market strategy.
