Introduction
Our client is a well-established manufacturing organization currently undergoing a significant evaluation and modernization of its enterprise technology environment. They operate Epicor Kinetic and Prophet 21 (P21) in an on-premise environment and are looking for an experienced Epicor ERP Transformation Consultant to provide a comprehensive assessment of their current systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and help establish a clear roadmap for their ERP environment.

This is a high-level technical and functional consulting role that requires someone who can take a bird's-eye view of the existing environment while also having the technical depth to understand the underlying systems, integrations, data, and manufacturing processes.

The organization has several ongoing initiatives, including P21 and Kinetic upgrades, system integrations, and addressing pain points with DocStar. The successful consultant will bring structure to these initiatives, make recommendations around what should be upgraded, replaced, retained, or eliminated, and help ensure projects are ultimately delivered.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the existing Epicor Kinetic and Prophet 21 environments and identify opportunities for optimization, modernization, and improvement
  • Assess the integration between Kinetic and P21, identifying gaps, communication issues, and opportunities to improve system transparency and functionality
  • Evaluate DocStar and other business applications to determine root causes of current issues and whether existing solutions continue to meet business needs
  • Develop recommendations for the organization's current and future-state ERP architecture, functionality, integrations, and technology roadmap
  • Support and provide direction for P21 and Epicor Kinetic upgrade initiatives
  • Analyze existing customizations, integrations, processes, and functionality to determine what should be retained, modified, upgraded, or replaced
  • Work across multiple manufacturing plants and concurrent initiatives while managing priorities and stakeholders
  • Partner closely with manufacturing and business stakeholders to understand requirements, pain points, and desired future-state processes
  • Provide strong project management and organizational leadership to ensure initiatives remain structured, on schedule, and ultimately reach completion
  • Utilize SQL, SSRS, APIs, BAQs, BPMs, and related Epicor technologies to investigate issues and support technical recommendations
  • Translate technical findings into clear business recommendations for leadership and key stakeholders
  • Establish project plans, priorities, timelines, and next steps based on the assessment of the current environment

Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Epicor Kinetic and/or Prophet 21 (P21) in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with ERP upgrades and modernization initiatives, preferably within an on-premise environment
  • Strong understanding of SQL and SSRS for data analysis, reporting, troubleshooting, and system assessment
  • Experience evaluating ERP environments from both a technical and functional perspective
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to work directly with manufacturing stakeholders
  • Experience with project management, including organizing initiatives, establishing priorities, managing timelines, and driving projects through completion
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business users, and leadership
  • Ability to assess complex ERP environments and develop practical recommendations for future-state improvements

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Nice-to-have skills that would make a candidate more competitive but are not required.
  • Experience with both Epicor Kinetic and Prophet 21
  • Experience with Epicor BAQs and BPMs
  • Experience with APIs, integrations, and ERP-to-ERP communication
  • Experience with DocStar or other document management/workflow platforms
  • Experience with multi-site or multi-plant manufacturing environments
  • Experience leading ERP upgrade or transformation projects from assessment through implementation
  • Experience evaluating and rationalizing legacy systems, customizations, and third-party applications
  • Experience developing ERP technology roadmaps and future-state architecture recommendations
  • Experience with on-premise ERP infrastructure and associated IT/security considerations
  • Willingness to travel onsite periodically to support stakeholders and project initiatives

What Makes This Opportunity Different
This is not a traditional ERP support or development engagement. The organization needs someone who can step into the environment, understand the big picture, identify what's working and what's not, and provide a clear path forward.

You'll have the opportunity to influence major decisions around Epicor Kinetic, P21, integrations, upgrades, third-party applications, and the overall ERP technology roadmap, while also helping ensure those initiatives move from strategy into execution.

Project Length: To be determined following an initial assessment/deep dive. The consultant will help establish the scope, priorities, and anticipated project timeline.
Interview Process: Initial interview with key stakeholders, with a potential additional interview
Target Start: ASAP
