Pay Range: $31-34/hour
Job Summary
Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs facility electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, apparatus, and devices. Possesses basic skills and knowledge of motor controls and logic control systems. Should be familiar with low-voltage systems, fire systems, and voice/data systems. Also estimates, coordinates, and schedules on-site construction or maintenance projects while ensuring quality control using the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, safety regulations, and EMCOR standard practices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machinery and building equipment.
- Connect power supply wiring to machinery and building equipment, including cables and wiring between machines and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical equipment including:
- Transformers
- Motors
- Motor starters
- MCC panels and circuits
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Lighting fixtures
- Replace damaged or defective wiring, cables, relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices.
- Replace faulty electronic components, including printed circuit boards.
- Work within electrical systems including:
- 480/277 VAC three-phase
- 120/208 VAC three-phase
- 120/240 VAC
- Maintain Data Center electrical service supporting computer equipment.
- Maintain all building electrical distribution systems.
- Maintain:
- Building lighting
- Furniture task lighting
- Parking lot lighting
- Lighting contactors
- Emergency and exit lighting
- 120-volt receptacles
- Photoelectric controls for exterior lighting
- Energy Management System (EMS) controlled lighting contactors
- Plan electrical layouts and install wiring, conduit, and electrical equipment in buildings.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical utilities and equipment.
- Attend classes and seminars related to electrical components, power distribution, and system design to maintain current technical knowledge.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain, organize, and control inventory of tools, equipment, spare parts, and maintenance materials.
- Clean and organize the maintenance shop and ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Qualifications Education
- Successfully completed an electrical apprenticeship program.
- Journeyman Electrician status required.
- Ten (10) or more years of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Proficient in the use of:
- Voltmeters
- Ammeters
- Ohmmeters
- Megohm (Megger) testers
- Amp probes
- Ability to interpret electrical testing data.
- Three (3) or more years of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Forklift and aerial lift certification preferred.
