Azure DevOps (ADO) Subject Matter Expert

Onsite 3 days per week in Dallas TX
$65-70/hour W2 Contract position
Position Overview

The Azure DevOps (ADO) Subject Matter Expert (SME) plays a key role in optimizing the organization's use of Azure DevOps to improve work management, enhance project visibility, and support standardized delivery practices. This position collaborates with the PMO, Product Operations, IT, and business stakeholders to drive platform adoption, establish governance, create executive-level reporting, and perform configuration and administrative support within Azure DevOps.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Azure DevOps dashboards, reports, queries, and analytics that provide actionable insights for executives and delivery teams.
  • Champion the adoption of Azure DevOps by implementing best practices, standardized workflows, and effective work management processes.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to enhance project, portfolio, and product management capabilities.
  • Define and maintain governance frameworks, performance metrics, reporting standards, and compliance monitoring.
  • Configure and support Azure DevOps projects, Boards, work item types, queries, dashboards, and related platform settings.
  • Create and deliver user guides, training materials, and educational sessions to increase user proficiency and platform adoption.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization, platform enhancements, and Azure DevOps migration efforts.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to ensure consistent and effective use of Azure DevOps across the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting or administering Azure DevOps in a large or enterprise environment.
  • Proven ability to develop Azure DevOps dashboards, analytics, queries, and executive reporting solutions.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Azure DevOps projects, Boards, work item processes, and related features.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, as well as project and portfolio management principles.
  • Experience implementing governance standards, driving platform adoption, and improving business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop training materials and deliver training to both end users and leadership teams.
  • Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into practical Azure DevOps solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a PMO, Product Operations organization, or Agile transformation initiative.
  • Experience integrating Azure DevOps data with Power BI for advanced reporting and visualization.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps Analytics, Boards, Pipelines, Repos, and Test Plans.
  • Experience leading or supporting Azure DevOps implementation, migration, or organizational change initiatives.
