Laboratory Systems Integration Analyst – (Contract) – Remote (Northeast preferred w/ very occasional onsite travel)
Professional service provider seeks a Laboratory Systems Integration Analyst to lead integration discovery and design across a modern lab/scientific application landscape. You’ll translate business needs into integration-ready requirements, evaluate APIs and platform capabilities, while producing architecture and detailed designs that guide development and testing. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong SDLC documentation habits, cross-functional coordination, and hands-on comfort with AWS and CI/CD automation to support delivery, validation, and troubleshooting. Ideal candidate will have prior expertise on integration projects involving LIMS, ELN and SDMS, ideally with exposure to Benchling LIMS and Revvity Signals/Dotmatics ELN.
Benefits
- A long-term contract going till the year’s end, and with possible extensions.
- 40 hours/week
- Up to $67/hr. 1099/C2C
- Remote-first with very little travel onsite to client location in northeast.
Responsibilities
Requirements & Integration Analysis
- Partner with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and technical teams to confirm scope, assumptions, and integration outcomes.
- Review and assess APIs (REST/other), authentication methods, data structures, rate limits, and integration constraints.
- Determine feasibility and recommend fit-for-purpose integration approaches (e.g., event-driven vs. batch, API-led, file-based where required).
- Define end-to-end integration flow architecture (systems, triggers, transformations, error handling, monitoring).
- Produce detailed design artifacts such as sequence diagrams, interface specifications/contracts, and mapping/translation logic.
- Ensure designs address non-functional needs (security, resiliency, observability, performance, support model).
- Provide design walkthroughs, knowledge transfer, and ongoing clarification for development teams.
- Participate in code/design reviews as needed to confirm alignment to intended patterns and contracts.
- Support automation and deployment activities using AWS, GitHub, and GitHub Actions (pipelines, release workflows, environment promotion).
- Work with QA/test teams to ensure test scenarios trace back to requirements and design intent.
- Review test cases and support SIT/UAT readiness (data needs, integrations test approach, defect triage).
- Lead/assist troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for integration failures, data issues, and environment/config problems.
- Create and maintain SDLC deliverables (requirements documentation, design documentation, configuration/runbook details).
- Ensure documentation meets internal standards and supports auditability, supportability, and knowledge continuity.
- Act as the integration SME throughout the lifecycle—from discovery through release and stabilization.
- Coordinate dependencies across business, architecture, development, platform, and QA teams.
- Proactively surface risks, constraints, and decisions; track action items to closure.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate based in the Northeast US, ideally NY or NJ.
- Laboratory integration analysis/design experience (requirements ? API analysis ? integration patterns ? detailed design artifacts).
- Prior laboratory integration project experience involving LIMS, ELN, SDMS and instrumentation.
- Strong SDLC documentation discipline (requirements, design, configuration/support documentation).
- Experience collaborating with developers and QA through build, SIT, UAT, and production support.
- Working knowledge of AWS and CI/CD tooling (GitHub + GitHub Actions).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating scientific/lab platforms such as Benchling, Signals, and/or Dotmatics.
- Familiarity with regulated or documentation-intensive environments.
