Network Engineer II - Cisco & Cloud Infrastructure
12 month contract
Location: Bridgewater, NJ
Pay range: $102-107/hr.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support and enhance enterprise network infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments. This role will be responsible for maintaining LAN/WAN networks, troubleshooting connectivity issues, implementing network improvements, and supporting cloud networking initiatives within AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have strong routing and switching experience, a solid understanding of network protocols, and exposure to hybrid cloud connectivity.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networking components.
- Support day-to-day network operations, including incident response, change management, and performance monitoring.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network bottlenecks and outages.
- Assist in the design and implementation of network architecture enhancements to improve reliability, scalability, and security.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, configuration backups, and operational procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical network infrastructure and business operations.
- Support integration of on-premises infrastructure with AWS and GCP cloud environments.
- Configure and maintain VPN tunnels, hybrid cloud connectivity, and inter-site networking solutions.
- Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to ensure proper VPC design, routing, security policies, and connectivity.
- Assist with cloud-native networking services, including AWS VPC, CloudWatch, and GCP Cloud Networking.
- Support network automation and operational efficiency initiatives through scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments, including routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including:
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- SNMP
- NTP
- STP
- LACP
- OSPF
- BGP
- ACLs
- VPN technologies
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies, including:
- Catalyst Switches
- ISR Routers
- Meraki
- DNA Center
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts in AWS and/or GCP, including VPCs, routing, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience using network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as:
- SolarWinds
- PRTG
- Wireshark
- CLI-based troubleshooting tools
- Experience working with ITSM platforms, preferably ServiceNow.
- Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Cisco CCIE certification.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and/or Google Associate Cloud Engineer certification.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies such as Cisco Viptela or Meraki SD-WAN.
- Familiarity with network automation and infrastructure-as-code tools, including Ansible and Terraform.
- Exposure to monitoring and observability platforms such as Dynatrace.
- Basic scripting experience using Python or PowerShell.
- Understanding of ITIL principles and formal change management processes.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across infrastructure, cloud, and security teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging networking and cloud technologies.
