Pay 44-49 per hour
The Electrical Engineer provides electrical engineering expertise for compressor station expansion and maintenance capital projects executed by third-party engineering firms. This role provides technical guidance related to electrical design codes, industry standards, company standards, and equipment specifications. The Electrical Engineer works closely with Project Execution, Transmission, Operations, Construction, Supply Chain, and other internal teams to ensure project requirements are incorporated into engineering designs and successfully executed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support development of electrical project scopes, schedules, capital cost estimates, execution plans, risk assessments, and other project development activities.
- Ensure electrical facilities and systems are designed in compliance with applicable regulations, industry codes, company standards, and equipment specifications.
- Provide technical oversight of electrical design activities performed by third-party engineering firms.
- Review and approve electrical engineering deliverables, including drawings, technical reports, material lists, and specifications.
- Monitor third-party engineering work to ensure deliverables meet project budgets, schedules, quality standards, and technical requirements.
- Review vendor quotations and technical bid evaluations and provide recommendations based on technical merit, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to support procurement of electrical equipment and materials using established company processes and systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to Construction teams during construction, commissioning, and field activities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Facilities Project Engineering, Operations, Construction, and other functional groups to resolve technical issues and maintain project progress.
- Ensure project scope and design comply with regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Support department initiatives and business improvement activities as assigned.
- Provide technical assistance to peers and senior staff to support business objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate project status, technical issues, risks, costs, and schedule impacts to project stakeholders.
Working Relationships:
- Collaborate regularly with Project Managers regarding project progress, cost, schedule, and risk.
- Work closely with Facilities Project Engineering leadership to address project issues and technical challenges.
- Maintain daily interaction with external engineering firms to provide design oversight and technical direction.
- Coordinate with Operations to communicate project status and identify required design features and operational requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred.
- Experience with electrical engineering for industrial facilities, compressor stations, pipelines, power generation, or other energy infrastructure preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical design codes, industry standards, engineering practices, and equipment specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering standards, modify approaches when appropriate, and draw on previous experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues and impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time-sensitive deliverables and multiple project priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard engineering and project management software.
Working Conditions:
- Approximately 80% office-based work supporting multiple project teams.
- Approximately 20% field work involving project scoping, construction support, and commissioning activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive project environment.
- Occasional travel to compressor station facilities and project sites may be required.
