We are looking for a hands-on Tableau Developer with strong report-building skills and excellent SQL capabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience designing clean, insightful dashboards from complex, multi-source data and be comfortable writing and optimizing SQL to prepare data for reporting.
Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot is highly valued, as is familiarity with Tableau Online/Server from a content-publishing perspective.
What You'll Do- Design and build data-driven Tableau reports and dashboards from concept through deployment.
- Design and implement optimized Custom SQL queries to structure, aggregate, and blend complex data streams for enterprise-level reporting.
- Apply a strong understanding of Tableau's order of operations, including extracts, data sources, context filters, and cascading filters.
- Diagnose slow-performing workbooks and optimize reporting performance by moving complex filtering logic into database-level SQL when appropriate.
- Write, tune, and maintain SQL queries across multiple data sources, including data lakes, Redshift, SQL Server, and Athena.
- Combine and reshape data using cross-database joins and data blending to support reporting requirements.
- Maintain and enhance reporting datasets, ensuring data remains accurate, current, and well-structured.
- Design user-friendly, intuitive dashboards and reporting interfaces.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data and report-level issues.
- Document report logic, data sources, and SQL transformations to support long-term maintainability.
- Contribute to visualization standards, style guides, and reporting best practices.
- Develop Python scripts as needed for report automation, including dashboard exports to PDF or CSV.
- Integrate Tableau reports with APIs and other tools such as R and Python for predictive or real-time reporting.
- Collaborate with AWS-based data teams using services such as S3, Glue, and Lambda to source and prepare reporting data.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and agentic engineering practices to accelerate SQL development, report building, testing, and documentation.
- Leverage AI-assisted workflows to automate repetitive data preparation, quality assurance, and refresh-scheduling tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical, technical, or related field preferred.
- 5-10+ years of professional experience, with a strong emphasis on SQL and Tableau report/dashboard development.
- Proven experience building reporting applications in a professional environment.
- Strong SQL skills, including writing, tuning, and maintaining complex queries.
- Advanced Tableau Desktop/Creator experience with demonstrated expertise in report and dashboard development.
- Solid understanding of data modeling and relational and columnar databases.
- Experience working with multiple data sources and integrating data for reporting purposes.
- Experience with AWS data services such as Athena, Glue, and S3.
- Experience with Redshift is preferred.
- Familiarity with Tableau Server or Tableau Online for content publishing is a plus.
- Tableau certification is a plus, but hands-on development experience is the priority.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot is highly valued.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
- Ability to contribute to the migration of existing Tableau reports to Tableau Online from a report-development perspective.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously in a cross-functional environment.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills across diverse teams and disciplines.
- Self-starter who can establish priorities, work independently, and consistently achieve project goals.
