Job Title: Staff Project Controls Specialist
Location: Kansas City MO
Contract length: 9 month Contract
Pay: $42 -49 per hour DOE
The Planet Group is seeking Staff Program Controls Specialist to lead project controls efforts and manages daily program controls activities. This role supports the development and execution of program controls plans, ensures consistency and quality across projects, and provides reporting, analysis, and technical support to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development and execution of program controls plans and quality standards
- Interface with clients and participate in program meetings
- Generate recurring and ad hoc reports for program teams and leadership
- Support implementation and maintenance of program reporting data warehouses
- Produce client-facing reports and analytics related to program performance
- Assist clients with configuration and use of planning and controls software
- Support program management through scheduling, estimating, cost control, forecasting, and reporting
- Develop and maintain critical path schedules, including "what-if" scenario analysis
- Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and detailed project schedules with logic ties
- Monitor resource loading and project progress curves
- Analyze cost performance against schedules and key milestones
- Develop and present cash flow forecasts and cost management reports
- Perform quality reviews of cost data, forecasts, and reporting outputs
- Support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and validation
- Perform quality reviews of program execution manuals and reporting processes
- Conduct field audits to validate reporting accuracy and adherence to processes
- Support risk management activities by identifying and mitigating potential risks
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry standards
- Serve as a point of contact for project controls-related questions
- Support Interactive Program Planning Meetings (IPPM)
- Assist senior controls personnel with financial system updates and reporting impacts
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and 3+ years of project controls experience
- Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirements
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred
- Strong knowledge of project controls principles, including scheduling, cost management, and forecasting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- OSHA 10-hour certification (or ability to obtain)
