Pay Range: $180,000 - $220,000 Base Salary + Bonus Opportunities

Job Description
The Utilities General Superintendent will provide leadership and oversight for multiple large construction projects or highly complex utility construction projects. This individual will be responsible for directing field operations, coordinating project activities, managing large craft workforces, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations for multiple large utility construction projects or complex single-site projects.
  • Oversee construction activities while coordinating with project management, engineering, procurement, safety, and quality teams to maintain project schedules.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to manage budgets, labor forecasts, equipment, materials, consumables, and project resources.
  • Lead project scheduling efforts, including development of project schedules, three-week look-ahead schedules, site utilization plans, and crew planning.
  • Drive effective pre-construction planning meetings and ongoing project coordination meetings.
  • Supervise and mentor Superintendents, Senior Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, Operators, and craft personnel.
  • Manage large field teams consisting of hundreds of craft employees.
  • Implement and maintain company Zero Injury Safety Program.
  • Oversee utility testing, inspections, and quality control throughout construction.
  • Manage relationships with owners, subcontractors, architects, inspectors, union representatives, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead site logistics and continuously improve project execution strategies.
  • Participate in monthly project reviews covering schedule, budget, labor, equipment, quality, and safety performance.
  • Manage both open shop and union work environments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field OR equivalent construction experience.
  • Minimum 14 years of construction management experience.
  • Experience overseeing at least two (2) utility construction projects valued at $600 million or greater.
  • Experience managing hundreds of craft employees, including Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, Operators, and field personnel.
  • Extensive pre-construction planning experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of utility testing and quality control.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Duct Banks
    • Water Lines
    • Storm Sewer
    • Sanitary Sewer
    • Underground Utility Infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, budgeting, labor management, safety, and quality control.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel up to 100%.
  • Must be willing to travel weekly (Monday-Friday with weekends home) or work a rotating assignment (3 weeks onsite followed by 5 days home).
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $180,000 - $220,000
  • Annual Performance Bonus:
    • Target Bonus: Up to 20%
    • 40% based on individual performance
    • 60% based on company performance
    • Opportunity to earn up to 150% of target bonus
    • Paid annually each March
  • Incentive Pay Program:
    • Additional 5% bonus paid on every paycheck
  • Company-issued credit card for hotel and travel expenses.
