Construction Estimator (Pipeline & Energy Infrastructure)
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid Schedule: Onsite Monday-Thursday, Remote Friday)
Compensation: $75-85/hr
Type: Long-term Contract with Potential for Permanent Hire
About the OpportunityA leading energy infrastructure organization is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support the development of large-scale pipeline and facilities projects across North America. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile capital projects ranging from tens of millions to multi-billion-dollar investments.
The ideal candidate will bring experience estimating costs for major pipeline construction projects and possess a strong understanding of construction means, methods, and project execution within the energy sector. This position partners closely with engineering, commercial, project management, and construction teams to develop accurate cost estimates that support critical business decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed cost estimates for pipeline and facilities construction projects.
- Support scope development and budgeting for both new-build and existing asset improvement projects.
- Prepare estimates for a variety of energy infrastructure assets, including pipelines, stations, and related facilities.
- Analyze project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies and escalation assumptions.
- Maintain current market pricing, labor, equipment, and material cost data.
- Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and project teams to define project scope and execution strategies.
- Present estimate assumptions, methodologies, and findings to stakeholders and leadership.
- Participate in site visits and field evaluations as required.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Experience developing scopes of work and construction cost estimates.
- Background estimating large-scale pipeline, utility, energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with project scheduling and construction planning.
- Field construction experience or direct exposure to project execution activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another technical discipline.
- Experience supporting projects with capital values ranging from $20M to several billion dollars.
Successful candidates will typically come from pipeline construction contractors, energy infrastructure companies, EPC organizations, or related industrial construction environments. Experience with large-diameter pipeline projects and long-haul transmission systems is highly desirable.
