Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Piping Designer to support complex industrial and manufacturing projects. This role is responsible for leading piping design efforts from concept through execution, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring designs meet engineering standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in industrial facility design, proven experience leading project teams, and proficiency with modern 3D modeling and coordination software. This is an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects while providing technical leadership and mentorship across engineering and design teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of industrial piping systems and plant layouts.
  • Interpret P&IDs, specifications, and engineering requirements to produce accurate piping designs.
  • Coordinate piping designs with other engineering disciplines using integrated design and clash-detection tools.
  • Direct and support engineers, designers, and drafters throughout project execution.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks, manage design changes, and support project planning efforts.
  • Participate in field activities including site walks, field verification, construction support, and project documentation reviews.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and project objectives.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of piping design experience within engineering, industrial, manufacturing, or specialty chemical environments.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Strong experience with E3D, CADWorx, or similar 3D plant design software.
  • Experience using Navisworks or comparable design coordination and clash-detection tools.
  • Proven ability to lead design teams and manage project deliverables.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites as needed.
  • Ability to access industrial facilities, including elevated platforms, stairs, and ladders.
