Job Description

AI Operations Analyst

Location: Austin, Texas -- Primarily On-Site (3-5 days per week in office)
Compensation: $106,000-$132,000

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a driven AI Operations Analyst to identify practical AI and automation opportunities and turn them into working, measurable solutions. This individual will help evaluate new AI ideas, guide promising opportunities through prototyping and implementation, and support adoption across the organization.

The role will also support the operational side of enterprise AI, including platform access, licensing, onboarding, offboarding, documentation, and ongoing process improvement.

The ideal candidate understands how business processes actually work and naturally looks for ways to improve them--whether through an AI model, agent, workflow automation, API integration, process redesign, or lightweight custom application.

This is not a traditional senior software engineering position. It is a highly visible, hands-on opportunity for someone who is already experimenting with AI and automation technologies and wants to help shape how an established organization adopts and scales them.

Candidates should be prepared to provide examples or work samples demonstrating AI, automation, or process-improvement solutions they have built or implemented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Discovery: Partner with teams across the organization to identify manual, repetitive, inefficient, or error-prone processes and determine whether AI, automation, integration, or process redesign is the appropriate solution.
  • Solution Development: Design, prototype, build, test, deploy, and maintain practical solutions using generative AI, workflow automation, AI agents, APIs, integrations, and related technologies.
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement: Establish success metrics such as time savings, error reduction, cost improvement, and user adoption. Continuously evaluate solutions and determine when they should be improved, expanded, or retired.
  • AI Project Intake & Prioritization: Evaluate incoming AI and automation requests, identify the underlying business problem, and help prioritize opportunities based on feasibility and business impact.
  • AI Training & Enablement: Support onboarding, workshops, and employee training designed to improve proficiency with approved AI and automation tools.
  • AI Platform Operations: Assist with day-to-day administration of enterprise AI platforms and maintain relevant procedures, documentation, FAQs, and adoption reporting.
  • Access & License Management: Coordinate access requests, approvals, provisioning, license reclamation, and utilization tracking.
  • Governance & Compliance: Help ensure AI tools, access, and deployed solutions align with organizational governance, privacy, security, and data-handling standards.
Required Qualifications
  • AI-First Mindset: Naturally considers how AI can improve the way work gets done while maintaining appropriate human judgment and oversight.
  • Proven AI Implementation: Experience putting an AI or automation solution into practical organizational use, ideally one relied upon by other users or teams.
  • Practical Technical Judgment: Ability to determine when AI is--and is not--the appropriate solution while considering accuracy, cost, privacy, security, and human oversight.
  • AI & Automation Tool Fluency: Hands-on experience with generative AI tools, workflow automation platforms, APIs, integrations, or similar technologies.
  • Relevant Professional Experience: Background in operations, process improvement, automation, technology, or a related discipline. Demonstrated work and practical capabilities are valued more heavily than a specific number of years of experience.
  • Organization & Execution: Ability to prioritize competing initiatives, maintain documentation, manage details, and follow projects through completion.
  • Communication & Enablement: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and end users.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience serving as an AI, automation, or technology resource within a team or organization.
  • Requirements gathering, business-process mapping, or change-management experience.
  • Exposure to Python, TypeScript, low-code automation, AI agents, APIs, or systems integration.
  • Reporting and operational data analysis experience using Excel, SQL, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, field-based, or other operational environments.
  • Relevant coursework or certifications in artificial intelligence, automation, technology, or project management.
Core Competencies
  • Bias Toward Action: Comfortable building and demonstrating an initial solution rather than overcomplicating early-stage evaluation.
  • Business Impact Orientation: Focused on measurable improvements in productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • User-Centered Communication: Strong listener who asks effective questions and works collaboratively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Problem Solving & Adaptability: Troubleshoots methodically, recognizes when to escalate, and learns new technologies quickly.
  • Operational Discipline: Maintains accurate documentation, tracks details, and consistently follows initiatives through completion.
Work Environment
  • Primarily in-person position based in Austin, Texas.
  • Occasional travel may be required for project kickoffs, meetings, or visits to other company facilities.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working directly with both technical teams and operational business users.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $106,000-$132,000, depending on experience.
  • Competitive benefits package.
  • Significant ownership of AI and automation initiatives with measurable business impact.
  • Exposure to a broad range of business functions, workflows, and technology challenges.
  • Mentorship and collaboration with experienced AI and technical professionals.
  • Opportunities to experiment with emerging technologies and advance into more sophisticated AI, automation, or engineering responsibilities.
  • Professional development resources and hands-on exposure to enterprise AI platforms and tools.
