Commercial Maintenance Technician

Location: San Leandro, CA
Pay: $28-$35/hour
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: Local travel to multiple commercial properties; company vehicle and tools provided

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Maintenance Technician to support multiple commercial properties throughout the San Leandro, CA area. This is a field-based position responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and general building services across assigned customer locations.

The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded, multi-trade maintenance professional with hands-on experience in plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance. This position requires daily local travel between properties, and a company vehicle and tools are provided.

• Perform preventive, corrective, and general maintenance on commercial buildings and facility systems.
• Complete assigned work orders in accordance with applicable safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot facility maintenance issues and determine appropriate repairs.
• Perform minor plumbing maintenance and repairs, including:
  • Clearing clogged toilets, urinals, and drains
  • Repairing leaks and plumbing fixtures
  • Replacing faucets, valves, and fixtures
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining automatic flush sensors
• Perform minor electrical maintenance as permitted by applicable regulations, including:
  • Replacing light fixtures, switches, and outlets
  • Replacing bulbs, ballasts, and sockets
  • Troubleshooting basic electrical issues
• Perform general carpentry, drywall, painting, and facility repairs.
• Repair and maintain walls, floors, doors, and other building components.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and support repairs involving building mechanical and HVAC systems as appropriate.
• Complete routine facility, service, and equipment/asset inspections.
• Obtain necessary materials, replacement parts, and supplies to complete assigned work.
• Maintain accurate work-order documentation, service notes, inspection reports, time records, and expenses using tablets, smartphones, and electronic systems.
• Provide recommendations and estimates for larger repairs or additional facility services when appropriate.
• Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal team members regarding maintenance needs and work-order status.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship and customer service while working independently at customer locations.
• Follow applicable OSHA requirements, safety procedures, building codes, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in required safety and compliance training.
• Travel locally between assigned commercial properties using a company-provided vehicle.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade-school education is a plus.
• 2-5 years of commercial building or general facility maintenance experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience across multiple building trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
• General understanding of commercial building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and complete common facility repairs.
• Experience maintaining toilets, urinals, faucets, valves, plumbing fixtures, and automatic flush systems is preferred.
• Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, email, Microsoft Office, and electronic work-order systems.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance instructions, safety procedures, equipment documentation, and work orders.
• Strong communication, organization, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple service requests and priorities.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and general workplace safety practices.
• Applicable trade licenses or certifications are a plus.
• Valid driver's license in good standing required.
• Ability to travel locally between customer locations on a daily basis.

Candidates with experience as a Commercial Maintenance Technician, Facilities Technician, Building Maintenance Technician, Mobile Maintenance Technician, Building Engineer, Multi-Skilled Technician, Handyman, or General Maintenance Technician are encouraged to apply.
