Quality Engineer - Data & AI Platforms
Location: Downtown Chicago - HYBRID Role (3 days per week onsite)
Job Type: 6 month Contract Assignment
Rate: $58.00 -$60.00/Hr
About the Role
We are seeking a Quality Engineer - Data & AI Platforms to drive test strategy and automation across our enterprise data and AI ecosystem. In this role, you will bridge data engineering and test automation, ensuring the accuracy, performance, and scalability of Databricks pipelines, APIs, and AI-enabled applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Automated Testing: Design and maintain automated UI and API test frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Data Platform Validation: Validate data transformations, notebooks, and pipelines within Databricks using advanced SQL queries and reconciliation logic.
- Integration & Performance: Perform functional, integration, regression, and load testing across cloud databases, REST APIs, and downstream applications.
- CI/CD & Code Management: Integrate automated test suites into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and manage code repositories via GitHub.
- Defect & Release Management: Investigate root causes with development teams, track defects, and document quality metrics for stakeholder release readiness.
- 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or SDET roles.
- Hands-on experience testing Databricks data platforms, workflows, or processing pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in Playwright and TypeScript for web/API automation.
- Advanced SQL skills (joins, aggregations, data validation, and reconciliation).
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub branching strategies, and CI/CD integration.
- Exposure to testing LLM, Generative AI, prompt validation, or ML model outputs.
- Experience writing test/data validation scripts in Python.
- Background in regulated industries (Healthcare, Financial Services).
