Job Title: Workday Extend Developer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Onsite Requirements: Hybrid (3 days / week onsite)
Compensation Range: $85-95/hr
Contract-to-Hire (after 3-6 months)
Hours: 40
Must be a USC or GC Holder
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Workday Extend Developer to join their Workday team in a contract-to-hire capacity. This individual will serve as the organization's primary Workday Extend subject matter expert, helping design, build, and deploy custom applications within the Workday ecosystem while establishing best practices and mentoring internal team members. Because the organization currently has limited Workday Extend expertise, this role is highly visible and strategic. The ideal candidate will not only bring strong technical capabilities but also possess a passion for knowledge sharing and enabling others through training, coaching, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and deploy custom applications using Workday Extend.

Partner with functional and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable Workday solutions.

Build and maintain Extend applications, integrations, dashboards, workflows, and user experiences within the Workday platform.

Recommend and implement Workday best practices, development standards, and governance processes.

Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and business teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.

Perform code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and production support activities.

Create technical documentation, design specifications, and support materials.

Serve as the organization's Workday Extend expert and trusted advisor.

Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs for internal team members.

Help build internal Extend development capabilities and establish a sustainable support model.
Required Qualifications
-
3+ years of Workday development experience with hands-on experience in Workday Extend.

Proven experience designing and deploying Workday Extend applications in a production environment.

Strong understanding of Workday architecture and security framework.

Experience with Workday integrations, including EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, and related technologies.

Knowledge of Workday business processes and workflow configuration.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Experience training, mentoring, or enabling technical and functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications

Workday Extend Certification.

Experience supporting Workday HCM, Financials, Payroll, or Supply Chain modules.

Experience with Workday Prism Analytics and Workday Orchestrate.

Previous experience helping organizations establish or mature their Workday Extend capabilities.

Experience in hybrid enterprise environments with multiple Workday integrations.
