Job Description

Job Title:  Workday Payroll Systems Manager
Location:  Cleveland, OH
Onsite Requirements:  Hybrid, Mon-Thu onsite (local/relocation will be considered); Fri remote
Compensation Range:  $130,000 - 155,000

Project Details:
Our customer is preparing to replace a key role on their team: Payroll Systems Manager. This is a particularly unique and specialized position within the organization, and they are looking for a candidate with strong experience in Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking.

The individual currently in this role is a long-tenured employee who has decided to leave. This role is much more than a traditional payroll management position. The Payroll Systems Manager leads a team responsible for the ongoing maintenance, configuration, testing, and optimization of our payroll systems. They work closely with HR, Legal, Finance, and IT on initiatives that impact payroll operations, compliance, and system functionality.

The customer is a large and rapidly growing hospitality organization with more than 75,000 employees across over 2,600 locations. The environment is extremely fast-paced, high-volume, and continuously evolving, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys complex challenges and meaningful impact.

The customer is currently in the process of transitioning from SAP to Workday, with a Workday Payroll go-live planned for early 2027. While the current team has been actively involved in the design, architecture, configuration, and testing phases of the implementation, the approaching go-live has significantly increased the need for someone who can bring direct Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking experience to the organization.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of:
  • Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking expertise
  • Strong people management and leadership experience
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Technical aptitude and systems knowledge
  • The ability to serve as a liaison between business and technical teams, translating legal and HR requirements into system solutions
  • Experience with testing, validation, and production release approvals
