Product Manager - HCM Compensation & Rewards
Our client, a leading global consulting firm, is partnering with a major financial services organization to develop and enhance an in-house HCM compensation and rewards platform. They are seeking an experienced Product Manager to own product direction, priorities, and delivery.
This is a business- and product-focused role, not a software development or platform configuration position. The ideal candidate brings strong HR/HCM and compensation experience, product ownership expertise, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable product capabilities.
Position Details- Contract: Initial 6-month engagement with strong potential for extension
- Schedule: 40 hours per week
- Location: Hybrid; 4 days onsite per week in Manhattan
- Start: Targeting September 2026, subject to onboarding
- Pay: Up to $105/hr W2 or $120/hr C2C
- Background Requirements: Credit check required
- Travel: Local candidates strongly preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Own product strategy, priorities, roadmaps, and backlogs for an HCM compensation and rewards platform.
- Translate HR and compensation needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead product discovery, requirements definition, prioritization, and backlog management.
- Partner with HR, compensation, technology, project management, and other stakeholders to align business needs and product delivery.
- Work closely with Agile delivery teams throughout planning, development, testing, and implementation.
- Facilitate product discussions, backlog refinement, sprint ceremonies, demos, and other Agile activities.
- Manage competing priorities, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
- Support business testing and validation of new product capabilities.
- Use Jira or similar tools to manage requirements, user stories, defects, priorities, and backlog activity.
- Communicate product decisions, progress, risks, and priorities to senior stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes, data flows, user experience, and overall product capabilities.
- 7+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Business Analysis, HCM transformation, or a related discipline.
- Strong HR/HCM domain experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing products through an end-to-end development lifecycle.
- Experience with product discovery, requirements definition, prioritization, Agile planning, testing, and implementation.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate complex HR and business requirements into practical product solutions.
- Strong understanding of Agile product development methodologies.
- Experience with Jira or a comparable product development tool.
- Ability to work effectively within a complex, matrixed enterprise environment.
- Experience with compensation and rewards products or processes.
- Experience with custom platforms and enterprise HCM solutions.
- Experience with annual compensation, pay-cycle, or variable compensation processes.
- Experience with multiple compensation award types.
- Experience within financial services, banking, or another highly regulated industry.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives.
