Job Description

Lead RapidIdentity Engineer - Workday Student
100% remote- must work EST
Contract role
$70-$80/hour

The Planet Group has partnered with an East Coast client to locate an experienced Lead Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise transformation involving RapidIdentity and Workday Student.

This is a hands-on technical role for an experienced IAM professional who can work within an established identity environment while helping design, develop, test, and implement enhancements required to support a new student information platform.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on senior IAM engineer, rather than someone focused solely on architecture or strategy. This individual should be comfortable stepping into an established RapidIdentity environment, understanding complex identity workflows, identifying potential improvements, and implementing the technical changes necessary to support a major enterprise system transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical resource supporting the integration of RapidIdentity with Workday Student.
  • Assess existing RapidIdentity configurations, workflows, and identity lifecycle processes and recommend improvements where appropriate.
  • Design, develop, script, test, and deploy RapidIdentity configuration changes and enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain identity provisioning and deprovisioning workflows across enterprise applications and services.
  • Support identity data aggregation, transformation, synchronization, and management across multiple systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving account creation, access provisioning, credential management, authentication, and identity data.
  • Support onboarding, account claiming, password management, notifications, and related identity lifecycle processes.
  • Partner with IAM, application, infrastructure, security, and business teams throughout design, testing, implementation, and deployment.
  • Ensure IAM solutions follow established security standards, architectural principles, and identity management best practices.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of the IAM environment.
  • Assist with testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and production readiness as new integrations and capabilities are introduced.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in Identity & Access Management (IAM) engineering, architecture, or related identity technologies.
  • Significant hands-on experience engineering and supporting RapidIdentity environments.
  • Experience configuring, scripting, integrating, and troubleshooting complex identity management solutions.
  • Strong understanding of identity lifecycle management, including provisioning, deprovisioning, authentication, account management, and access management.
  • Experience integrating IAM platforms with enterprise applications and authoritative identity data sources.
  • Understanding of modern authentication and federation technologies including SAML, OAuth/OIDC, LDAP, and SSO.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with other senior technical resources and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Workday Student integration or implementation experience.
  • IAM experience within a higher education environment.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based RapidIdentity implementations.
  • Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • LDAP directory technologies.
  • Google Workspace for Education.
  • OneLogin or comparable SSO technologies.
