Role: Oracle Distribution SME
Work Location: New York City (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 months
The Planet Group is partnering with a direct client based in New York City to hire on an Oracle Distribution consultant.
The Distribution SME serves as the senior functional expert for Distribution operations within the Oracle Fusion ERP transformation. This individual owns the detailed business processes supporting Order Management, Inventory, Fulfillment, Logistics, Shipping, and Returns while partnering closely with the Solution Design Lead to ensure those processes integrate seamlessly into the overall ERP solution.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience supporting wholesale distribution environments and understands the complete operational lifecycle--from purchase orders through warehouse operations, inventory management, customer fulfillment, shipping, returns, and financial impacts.
Required Skills:
- 8-10+ years of experience supporting Distribution, Supply Chain, Order Management, or Logistics operations.
- Strong Oracle ERP or Oracle Fusion functional experience.
- Business process transformation experience - not just Oracle configuration
- Deep Distribution / Order Management expertise:
- Order Management
- Inventory
- Fulfillment
- Logistics / warehouse

- Order-to-Cash
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into ERP solutions.
- Proven business process improvement and optimization experience.
- The ideal person has worked in:
- Wholesale distribution
- Publishing
- Media distribution
- Manufacturing/distribution
- Complex supply chain environments
- Ability to collaborate across Finance, Operations, and IT organizations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable facilitating workshops with business users.
- Demonstrated ownership mentality with a willingness to investigate issues and drive solutions to completion rather than handing them off.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
