Job Description

Event Manager
Location: Cambridge MA 02138
Rate: $ 30 - 35 per hour
Duration: 3 Months

  • Design, plan, and execute programs and events that support diverse student communities, including first-generation students, veterans, and students with children.
  • Develop engaging programming that promotes student success, belonging, and community engagement.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned student programs and events.
  • Build relationships with students, campus partners, and university stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and student engagement activities.
  • Coordinate all aspects of event planning, including logistics, scheduling, vendor coordination, communications, and onsite execution.
  • Assume full or partial responsibility for managing events from planning through completion.
  • Delegate event-related tasks and responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and campus partners regarding event planning and execution.
  • Complete event documentation, reports, and other administrative paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and event procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to onsite issues and coordinate incident reporting when necessary.
  • Support evening programming, with many events taking place after 5:00 p.m.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education, student services, student affairs, or a related academic environment.
  • Experience designing and implementing student programs or engagement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the unique needs and support services for diverse student populations, including first-generation students, veterans, and students with children.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, presentations, or group discussions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work evenings as required to support student events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating and managing campus events or large-scale programs.
  • Familiarity with Harvard University or a similar higher education environment.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple campus departments and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
