The Electrical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and plays a key role in the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of commercial foodservice equipment. This position is responsible for electrical system design and support throughout the product lifecycle, including concept development, prototyping, testing, production launch, and sustaining engineering.
Working closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and suppliers, the Electrical Engineer develops practical, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions that meet customer expectations while supporting manufacturability, product quality, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges both in the engineering lab and on the manufacturing floor.
Key Results Areas
- Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems for commercial foodservice equipment, including heating circuits, temperature controls, wiring harnesses, sensors, and power distribution components.
- Support products throughout the complete development lifecycle from concept and prototype through validation, production release, and continuous improvement.
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and engineering documentation utilizing SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and PDM.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to integrate electrical and mechanical systems into robust, manufacturable product designs.
- Create and maintenance technical documentation updates while maintaining engineering standards and configuration control.
- Lead and support product validation, performance testing, reliability testing, and root cause failure analysis.
- Work closely with Manufacturing to troubleshoot production issues, support pilot builds, improve assembly processes, and implement design improvements that enhance manufacturability and quality.
- Partner with Supply Chain and suppliers to evaluate electrical components, resolve technical issues, qualify new components, and support cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure products comply with applicable regulatory and safety requirements including UL, NSF, CSA, ETL, and DOE standards.
- Provide technical support to Quality, Tech Service, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to resolve field issues and improve product performance.
- Travel occasionally to suppliers, manufacturing partners, customers, or industry events as required.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience designing electrical systems for commercial equipment, industrial products, appliances, or other electromechanical products.
- Experience supporting products through the complete product development lifecycle, from concept through production.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for production support and continuous improvement.
- Experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, validation, and failure analysis.
- Experience working with regulatory certification agencies and applicable safety standards is preferred.
