Job Description

The Planet Group is seeking a Project Coordinator (Operations + Supply Chain) to join one of our well-known global pharmaceutical clients. 

  • Pay: $30-35.88/hr depending on experience 
  • Location: Hybrid in Lake County, IL (T-TR onsite)
Project Coordinator Responsibilities:
  • New Product Introductions (NPI)
    • Coordinate end-to-end NPI project plans, including timelines, milestone tracking, resource alignment, and stage-gate readiness reviews.
    • Facilitate cross-functional launch meetings; track action items and escalate risks to project sponsors.
      Supply Disruption Management
    • Coordination efforts for supply disruption projects resulting from raw material or packaging shortages, supplier failures, or capacity constraints.
    • Maintain a disruption tracker; drive root-cause analysis sessions and document corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
    • Partner with Procurement and Planning to identify, qualify, and onboard alternative materials or suppliers within required timelines.
  • Manufacturing Technology Transfers
    • Coordinate validation activities, regulatory documentation requirements, and trial production schedules in collaboration with Quality and Technical teams.
    • Maintain transfer project schedules, risk logs, and status reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • General Project Coordination
    • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), and status dashboards for all active initiatives.
    • Prepare concise project status reports and executive summaries for leadership review meetings.
    • Drive adherence to project management standards, templates, and governance processes established by the Operations PMO.
    • Identify and proactively communicate schedule risks, resource conflicts, and cross-project dependencies.
    • Supply Chain Interface: Act as the central point of contact between supply chain operations and brand/program teams, ensuring seamless communication, alignment on priorities, and timely resolution of supply-related issues.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams--including procurement, logistics, finance, and marketing--to drive program objectives and deliver against operational milestones.
    • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks--including supply disruptions, demand volatility, and sourcing challenges--by developing contingency plans and proactive mitigation strategies.
Project Coordinator Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, supply chain operations, or manufacturing environments.
  • Preferred but not mandatory experience with new product launches, material qualification, or technology transfer projects strongly preferred.
  • Consumer packaged goods (CPG), pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or similarly regulated industry experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Asana, or equivalent platforms.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams); ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred.
    • Familiarity with supply chain fundamentals including demand planning, procurement, and S&OP processes.
    • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
  • Certifications (Preferred)
    • CAPM or PMP (Project Management Professional) - PMI
    • APICS CSCP or CPIM - Supply Chain Certification
