Project Scheduler - Construction
Job Summary
The Project Scheduler is responsible for developing, implementing, analyzing, and maintaining the master project schedule for large-scale industrial construction projects. Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors, this role ensures project activities remain on track to meet key milestones across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
The Scheduler serves as the project schedule subject matter expert, providing schedule analysis, identifying risks, monitoring progress, and communicating impacts to project teams and leadership.
Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and analyze the master project schedule in coordination with EPC contractor schedules.
- Integrate owner project schedule submissions into the overall master schedule.
- Review critical path activities, relationships, constraints, dependencies, and project milestones.
- Identify, review, and resolve schedule issues with EPC contractors and project teams.
- Track project issues and impacts related to the master schedule.
- Apply construction scheduling expertise to analyze and resolve project challenges.
- Serve as the lead schedule representative and subject matter expert for project scheduling activities.
- Communicate schedule risks, impacts, and recommendations to project teams and management.
- Perform regular site visits to verify and document contractor progress against the approved schedule.
- Provide scheduling data to support change order reviews, bid comparisons, and resolution of schedule-related issues.
- Perform detailed schedule variance analysis using Primavera P6.
- Partner with EPC contractors to develop and maintain project metrics, including:
- Progress curves
- Labor histograms
- Milestone tracking
- Project issues and action items
- Prepare weekly and monthly schedule reports for project management leadership and site project teams.
- 5-6+ years of direct construction scheduling experience supporting large industrial projects.
- Experience working on multi-million-dollar or billion-dollar construction projects preferred.
- Hands-on proficiency with Primavera P6 required.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Project.
- Experience developing and managing:
- Resource-loaded schedules
- Contractor baseline schedules
- Time impact analyses
- Earned value management reporting
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project execution, and supplier work scopes.
- Ability to convert schedules between formats (such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project).
- Excellent schedule analysis, troubleshooting, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, suppliers, project teams, and leadership.
- High School Diploma required.
