Contract length: 12-month Contract
Pay: $62-65/hr.
We are seeking a Senior Engineer to support natural gas distribution operations in the Midwest region. This role serves as the district engineering lead, providing technical expertise for the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of natural gas infrastructure.
The Senior Engineer will independently manage engineering activities related to capital asset installations, meter sets, services, regulator stations, and system improvements. This individual will work closely with operations, construction, and non-engineering teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the engineering lead for an assigned natural gas distribution district.
- Design and review meter sets, gas services, regulator stations, and related natural gas facilities.
- Provide engineering support for all capital asset installation projects within the district.
- Review and approve work performed by non-engineering groups to ensure compliance with engineering standards and requirements.
- Identify engineering challenges, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions.
- Support project planning, execution, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with operations, construction, and field personnel to support safe and reliable system operations.
- Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and project documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members as needed.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; OR
- Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years of natural gas engineering experience; OR
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with active Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage engineering projects with minimal supervision.
- Civil Engineering (structural background preferred)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Petroleum Engineering
- Other applicable engineering disciplines with relevant natural gas industry experience
- Knowledge of Federal Pipeline Safety Regulations, including CFR Part 192.
- Familiarity with applicable ANSI, ASTM, and API codes and standards related to natural gas systems.
- Experience in utility, energy, or natural gas distribution operations.
- Understanding of project management principles and practices.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred if not already required for qualification.
- Strong understanding of natural gas engineering principles and distribution system design.
- Ability to research engineering issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present technical recommendations to various stakeholders.
- Experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to build effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
