The ideal candidate has strong field experience on large-scale construction projects, preferably mission-critical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, or data center facilities. This person must be technically strong, highly collaborative, and comfortable working in a demanding construction environment where schedule, quality, safety, and coordination are critical.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise for civil and structural scopes of work on a large-scale data center construction project.
  • Review civil and structural drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, field changes, design clarifications, and construction documentation for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Support field teams with technical guidance related to sitework, grading, drainage, utilities, foundations, concrete, steel, embeds, anchor bolts, structural framing, equipment pads, retaining structures, roadways, and building envelope interfaces.
  • Perform regular field walks to monitor progress, verify installation quality, identify deficiencies, and ensure work is being performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with general contractors, civil contractors, structural steel contractors, concrete contractors, design engineers, inspectors, construction managers, commissioning teams, and client representatives.
  • Identify and help resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, design discrepancies, and coordination challenges before they impact safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Review and provide input on sequencing, logistics, temporary works, structural access, crane paths, laydown areas, underground utilities, and site constraints.
  • Support QA/QC activities, including inspections, punch lists, deficiency tracking, corrective action follow-up, documentation review, and turnover readiness.
  • Verify proper installation and documentation for foundations, slab work, structural steel, concrete pours, reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, equipment supports, housekeeping pads, underground utilities, drainage systems, and site infrastructure.
  • Assist with review of inspection reports, testing documentation, concrete break results, compaction reports, welding inspections, bolting inspections, survey data, and other quality records.
  • Monitor contractor performance and escalate concerns related to workmanship, schedule, coordination, manpower, safety, or technical execution.
  • Participate in project meetings, technical coordination sessions, schedule reviews, design reviews, QA/QC meetings, and field issue resolution meetings.
  • Work with other discipline SMEs, including electrical, mechanical, controls, commissioning, and safety teams, to ensure civil and structural scopes are properly coordinated with overall project delivery.
  • Help ensure that all civil and structural work supports the long-term reliability, maintainability, and operational requirements of a mission-critical data center environment.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil, structural, construction management, engineering, inspection, or field leadership roles.
  • Strong experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, data center, advanced manufacturing, utility, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Deep understanding of civil and structural construction practices, including earthwork, grading, drainage, foundations, concrete, structural steel, underground utilities, roadways, equipment pads, and site infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, structural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, survey documents, rebar drawings, steel erection drawings, anchor bolt plans, and construction details.
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, field coordination, inspection processes, QA/QC requirements, and issue resolution.
  • Experience working directly with contractors, engineers, inspectors, owners' representatives, and construction management teams.
  • Ability to identify technical issues quickly, communicate clearly, and drive practical solutions in the field.
  • Strong field presence and willingness to spend significant time walking the site, reviewing installations, and engaging with trade partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple issues, priorities, and stakeholders in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred:

  • Previous data center construction experience.
  • Experience with hyperscale, mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, power, heavy industrial, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Background as a civil engineer, structural engineer, superintendent, quality manager, inspector, construction manager, or owner's representative.
  • Professional Engineer license, ICC certification, ACI certification, AWS/CWI certification, or other relevant technical credentials are preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, or similar construction management tools.
  • Familiarity with structural steel erection, concrete placement, precast systems, deep foundations, utility coordination, site logistics, and high-volume construction environments.
