Job Title: Tax Administrator
Location: San Diego, CA; Hybrid (onsite 3 days/week)
Contract length: 4 months
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hrs per week
Pay: $20/hr to $25/hr, DOE

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Tax Administrator to provide short-term support to the Payroll Tax team. This role will focus on assisting with state tax-related activities, conducting research, communicating with state tax agencies, and helping the team manage a backlog of work. The position is expected to be a contract assignment with an anticipated duration of approximately four months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with payroll tax account updates with state and local tax agencies
  • Process account changes, including business address updates, ownership changes, and account maintenance online
  • Review and update payroll tax account access for state agencies
  • Prepare and organize supporting documentation for payroll tax account changes
  • Maintain electronic records and tracking systems for payroll tax accounts and related documents
  • Follow established procedures to support payroll tax compliance
  • Escalate discrepancies or unresolved agency issues as needed
  • Assist with special projects and administrative support related to payroll tax operations
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure secure handling of sensitive company information

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred
  • Previous administrative, payroll, tax, or accounting support experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
