Job Description

An Engineer I responsible for providing administration, support, and continuous improvement of the Outage Management (OMS) platform in order to achieve reliable outage response in accordance with the goals of the division and cooperative; providing technical assistance on the configuration and operation of the OMS platform.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Prefer a Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Undergraduate curriculum including engineering related to the field of electrical power distribution and transmission.
  • Require one year of responsible electrical distribution experience including system operations, OMS, SCADA, DMS, or related technologies.
  • Experience supporting outage restoration, switching operations, or real-time system monitoring.
Skills:
  • Require a thorough knowledge of basic electrical engineering principles including three phase power calculations, electrical rotating machines, transformer theory, and AC and DC circuit analysis.  
  • Prefer the following: working knowledge of electric distribution system design, components, and operations, including feeders, substations, reclosers, switches, sectionalizing devices, and protective schemes; understanding of electric outage restoration processes, switching procedures, tagging practices, and system reliability principles.
  • Familiarity with Outage Management Systems (OMS) functionality including outage prediction, device hierarchy, crew management workflows, and restoration modeling. 
Job Duties:
  • Administer, configure, and maintain the OMS application within the integrated ADMS platform.
  • Ensure accurate outage prediction, device status modeling, and restoration workflows.
  • Build relationships with IT and Engineering groups to help support call handling for integrations to other systems; CIS, AVL, AMI, and GIS connectivity model accuracy.
  • Monitor OMS performance and troubleshoot application, data, and integration issues.
  • Provide direct support during major outage and storm restoration events.
  • Train and support office users and field personnel on OMS tools and best practices.
  • Assist as directed in the management and maintenance of the companies tower fleet.  Ensure rental contracts are current and expenditures and payments are in accordance with agreements.
  • Assist as directed in the support and maintenance of Distribution Management Systems (DMS) programs in use at the Company.
  • Assist as directed in Operational Technology programs and projects including critical infrastructure asset management and internal training initiatives.
  • Develop thorough knowledge of electrical distribution systems, common distribution equipment, typical system problems, and solutions. Develop a thorough understanding of engineering economics and comparative value of alternative solutions. Prepare evaluations and recommendations as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other areas within Operational Technology; participate and encourage cross training.
  • Provide technical assistance to other departments during planned or emergency power outages to the extent necessary that will ensure the customer has the highest degree of continuity of electrical service.
  • Assist in providing engineering support to cooperative members.
Pay: $98,953 - $100,000.00
