Engineering Manager, Business Development
Location: Multiple Texas locations (Austin, Fort Worth, Spring)
Compensation: $130,000-$147,000 base + bonus incentives
Travel: ~20% overnight + regional day travel (combined for roughly 50%)
Schedule: In-office with travel; hybrid flexibility based on tenure
Company Vehicle: Provided
A growing infrastructure-focused organization is seeking an Engineering Manager, Business Development to help expand water and wastewater solutions across key regions in Texas. This role blends technical engineering expertise with client-facing responsibilities, supporting new project development from early planning through construction and delivery.
This position is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys working directly with developers and stakeholders, and who is interested in expanding into a more commercially focused role over time.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain relationships with developers, municipalities, and key stakeholders
- Support identification, evaluation, and development of new project opportunities
- Review technical plans and ensure designs align with internal standards and regulatory requirements
- Guide projects through the full lifecycle, including early planning, design review, construction oversight, and closeout
- Conduct site visits and monitor project execution to ensure alignment with approved designs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, finance, and leadership teams
- Participate in discussions, presentations, and meetings with senior stakeholders and decision-makers
- Support permitting and compliance efforts related to water and wastewater infrastructure
- Contribute to due diligence and technical evaluation for potential new developments or acquisitions
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required)
- 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater design or related infrastructure projects
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to review and interpret engineering specifications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Interest or experience in client-facing work, business development, or project growth initiatives
- Experience with utilities, land development, or municipal projects is highly preferred
- EIT or progress toward licensure is a plus
- Commissioning or startup experience for water/wastewater facilities is a plus
