Job Description

Job Title: Utility Operator
Location: Alexandria, VA 22304
Contract length: 3-month Contract  
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
Pay: $23/hr - $28.38/hr

Utility Operator Qualifications 
  • Current driver's license in good standing
  • Must be willing to work overtime and on occasion, integrate into a rotating shift schedule during major and minor plant outages
Utility Operator Description
  • Strict adherence to all to all safety practices and policies
  • Work in a self-guided manner in the absence of direct supervision and demonstrate creativity and initiative while exercising sound judgment
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas
  • Responsible for chemical and reagent offloads
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with Environmental Permits and Safety Procedures
  • Perform power washing, sand blasting and other pre-painting activities on parts or equipment in preparation for painting & fabrication
  • Apply a variety of industrial coatings to fabricated metal products or equipment
  • Utilize instrumentation to measure painting parameters to ensure compliance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications
  • Responsible for the application of industrial coatings in confined spaces
  • Assist rigging operations as necessary
  • Adhere to all OSHA and hazardous materials procedures with respect to the storage and handling of materials in the area
  • Forklift and other mobile equipment operation
  • Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations
Utility Operator Physical Demands
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions
