A Sr. Structural Engineer responsible for leading and coordinating the structural discipline on projects ranging from small assignments to large, complex building and industrial projects. The role works closely with Architectural, Piping Design, Mechanical, Process, and Electrical disciplines to develop coordinated structural designs and deliverables. Required:
- BSCE or equivalent degree from an accredited university; 12+ years of structural engineering experience, including demonstrated project or discipline leadership. Master's degree in civil or structural engineering is a plus.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Structural Engineer (SE) designation, based on passing the NCEES 16-hour Structural exam, is preferred.
- Proven experience directing the work of other engineers and reviewing their calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience delivering projects using AutoCAD and Revit and coordinating integrated design using tools such as Navisworks.
- Thorough understanding of applicable design codes and regulations, including working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, OSHA, and ASTM.
- Proficiency using RISA-3D. STAAD Pro, RAM Structural System, and RAM Elements experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in the architectural/engineering (A/E) industry supporting projects in specialty chemicals, heavy industrial, or manufacturing.
- Experience contributing to proposals, scope definition, or effort hour/schedule estimates is a plus.
- Ability to travel and spend time onsite with clients, including climbing elevated platforms via plant stairs and ladders.
- Strong communicator, technical writer, and team player, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop others.
- Highly organized, with demonstrated ownership and follow through on assigned work and on the work of the team.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Lead and review the work of structural engineers, designers, and drafters across one or more projects, ensuring technical accuracy, code compliance, and consistency with project design criteria.
- Perform QA/QC review of calculations, drawings, and specifications produced by discipline staff.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, including guidance on technical approach, licensure progress, and professional development.
- Develop designs using reinforced concrete, structural steel, and masonry where hands-on involvement is needed.
- Support and coordinate discipline work delivered across multiple office locations.
- Contribute to proposals, scope development, and fee estimates for structural work.
- Interact and collaborate directly with clients, vendors, and contractors on technical and schedule matters.
- Manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and work with the Discipline Manager and Project Manager to develop contingency plans.
- Participate in services during construction, including field verification, site observation reports, responses to RFIs, and submittal reviews.
- Support staffing and resource planning for the discipline in coordination with the Discipline Manager.
