Project Engineer - Electrical Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer - Electrical to support the design, planning, and implementation of electrical systems and equipment projects. This individual will work independently and in partnership with Project Managers to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from tens of thousands of dollars to projects valued at less than $5 million.

The Project Engineer will lead the engineering project scoping process, develop preliminary designs and schedules, prepare cost estimates, evaluate project risks, and coordinate with Facilities leadership, Project Managers, engineering teams, and frontline employees to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface and liaison for resolving electrical design and engineering issues.
  • Lead the project scoping process, including preliminary designs, engineering schedules, cost estimates, and qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
  • Develop project teams with the appropriate technical expertise to support estimating, risk identification, planning, and execution.
  • Prepare and submit preliminary project scope reviews, scope definitions, and cost estimates to the Project Manager.
  • Monitor engineering schedules and costs to ensure projects remain on track and within budget.
  • Lead project scope meetings and provide regular updates on design status, schedule, budget, engineering costs, and estimates.
  • Partner with Project Managers to prepare, submit, and evaluate project bid packages.
  • Provide technical expertise in electrical systems, equipment, engineering, and applications.
  • Support Facilities Operations with troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues and equipment failures within existing facilities.
  • Review and update electrical standards, procedures, and programs as needed.
  • Review electrical one-line diagrams, arc flash studies, and coordination studies for accuracy and compliance on a project-by-project basis.
  • Coordinate with Facilities leadership and frontline employees to gain alignment and approval on proposed designs.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while balancing changing priorities and deadlines.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building electrical systems, equipment, inspection, and testing methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • Experience with commercial building electrical systems and equipment.
  • Experience implementing NFPA 70B Electrical Maintenance Programs.
  • Experience with NFPA 70E - Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
  • Experience using thermal imaging, power quality analyzers, and EV analyzer testing equipment.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM), Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and/or Revit.
  • PMI/PMP certification.
