Job Description
Workday HCM Director
Permanent / Direct Hire | Dallas, TX (Hybrid)
This is not your typical Workday leadership role!
Our client, a well-established leader in the Commercial Real Estate industry, is in the middle of a major HR technology transformation moving from UKG to Workday with a target go-live of January 2027. They are seeking a hands-on Workday HCM Director who can step in and take true ownership of the platform while helping lead a complex enterprise-wide transformation.
This is a rare blend of leadership and execution. You will serve as the primary Workday authority in an organization that does not currently have internal Workday expertise, meaning you will directly shape how the system is configured, adopted, and scaled across the business.
If you want a role where you can lead, build, coach, and stay close to the system, this is a strong fit!
What You Will Own:
- Full ownership of the Workday HCM platform across the organization
- Leadership and development of a growing Workday team (currently 2 direct reports)
- Hands-on configuration and design across core HCM functionality
- Ownership of annual HR cycles including benefits, open enrollment, performance, compensation, and recruiting
- System testing, deployments, and enterprise-wide rollouts
- Close partnership with IT on integrations while owning HCM design and impact
- Translation of HR business needs into scalable Workday solutions
- Support and enablement of HR stakeholders through transformation and change
What You Need to Bring:
- 5+ years of deep Workday HCM experience with strong configuration expertise
- Proven experience leading or supporting a full HRIS or Workday implementation or transformation
- Strong HR background with hands-on exposure to core HR processes and annual cycles
- Experience in a player-coach capacity (leading while still building in the system)
- Strong knowledge of Workday HCM modules including Recruiting, Advanced Compensation, Performance, Payroll, and Time and Attendance
- Ability to partner across HR, IT, and Finance while keeping HR as the primary lens
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
What Will Set You Apart:
- Exposure to Workday Financials
- UKG experience
- Strong understanding of integrations and data flow between systems
- Experience supporting multi-state HR environments
- Prior leadership in HRIS transformation programs
Culture Snapshot:
- Highly collaborative, relationship-driven environment with a "small town" feel despite a multi-state footprint
- The team values partnership, transparency, and knowledge sharing over silos or gatekeeping. This is not a "take orders and execute" environment. They are looking for someone who will teach, guide, and elevate the organization through its Workday journey
Why This Role:
- Lead a high-visibility Workday transformation at the center of a major enterprise HR technology initiative
- Directly influence how Workday is configured, adopted, and scaled across a national organization
- Compensation: $155,000 to $180,000 base plus annual bonus with a strong and consistent payout history
- Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, HSA, FSA, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and paid holidays
- Executive-level exposure and direct impact on a mission-critical transformation program
- Opportunity to build, shape, and grow the Workday function from the ground up
- Highly collaborative, supportive leadership team and culture
- Stable organization with operations across 29 states
If you are a proven Workday HCM leader who thrives in transformation environments and enjoys building while leading, this is one worth serious attention! If you are qualified and interested please apply soon as this opportunity will move quickly!
