Associate Engineering Technician (Electrical)
Overview:
Under general supervision, the Associate Engineering Technician supports engineering teams by performing technical tasks that require an intermediate understanding of engineering principles and practices. This role focuses on electrical drafting and design deliverables, utilizing industry-standard software to support project execution.
Location Requirement:
This position is based in the Chattanooga office. Candidates must be within a commutable distance.
No relocation or per diem is offered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, modify, and maintain technical drawings and project deliverables using CAD and 3D modeling tools
- Support electrical design efforts, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and site layouts
- Develop deliverables based on a variety of design inputs and engineering standards
- Perform basic calculations such as material quantity takeoffs and dimensional checks
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accuracy and minimize design conflicts
- Maintain organized project documentation and adhere to document control standards
- Apply quality standards to ensure deliverables are accurate and compliant
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
- May provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians
Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of drafting experience supporting electrical projects (civil-focused experience will not be considered)
- 2-3 years of experience with Autodesk AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of electrical design drawings and documentation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with substation design (schematics, wiring, site layouts)
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation
- Exposure to BIM or 3D modeling tools
