Job Title: Civil Engineering Technician
Location: Dallas-TX, Houston-TX, College Station-TX, San Antonio-TX
Contract Length: 6-month contract
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $40/hr - $43.4/hr (DOE)
The Planet Group is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician for an opportunity supporting the Water Utilities group. This role supports client needs related to water, wastewater, linear pipelines, and other water related solutions.
Civil Engineering Technician Qualifications:
- Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D experience required, including use of:
- Pipe and pressure networks
- Proposed grading surfaces
- Plan and profile development
- Must be familiar with:
- Plan & profile drawings
- Alignments
- Pipe networks
- Grading
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD
- Experience with Bluebeam
- Experience using appropriate electronic applications and programs required for performing assignments, including CADD or other electronic applications
- Ability to interpret engineering deliverable content
- Working knowledge of:
- Engineering standards, systems, and document control
- Departmental guides and applicable codes
- Company quality program
- Basic engineering design principles and applicable design guides
- Basic knowledge of:
- Industry technology trends
- Other engineering disciplines
- Construction and constructability practices and principles
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Education:
- Diploma or Certificate preferred
- Associate degree in Drafting or Engineering Design–related technology preferred
Civil Engineering Technician Responsibilities:
- Support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables
- Perform advanced functions requiring technical knowledge, use of electronic applications, standards, and document control processes
- Develop site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation
- Create and modify plan & profile drawings, alignments, pipe networks, and grading
- Apply established design practices, applicable codes & standards
- Review project requirements and determine correct format and content of deliverables
- Review design inputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance
- Apply Quality Program requirements to deliverables
- Perform design calculations, material quantities, and estimates
- Coordinate with other design group personnel to support design development
- May review deliverables prepared by others
- May define work assignments and maintain schedules
- May support field activities as required
