Job Title: Oracle Cloud Engineer - Databases
Location: Westlake, TX or Merrimack, NH
Contract length: 6 months
Schedule: 40 hrs/week
Pay: $70/hr to $75/hr, DOE
Job Overview:
As a Database Engineer, you will work within the Data Platform space, on our Oracle Engineering team. You will work with a highly collaborative, multi-functional technical team that is committed to improving the value of our technology solutions. You will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining the enterprise-level database systems that store, organize, and manage an organization's critical data. This role is a hybrid of software engineering and database expertise, focused on building foundational database solutions and best practices for engineering teams. The team blends deep technology and business expertise with a passion for exploring and implementing new emerging technologies while working in an open and transparent way. In this position you will work to design, maintain, and enhance database solutions for the AWS and Azure cloud and on-prem platforms. This role requires Oracle database administration, platform engineering, and automation to create a highly available and scalable environment.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring:
- Experience working in a large database hybrid environment that includes both on-prem and public cloud resources
- Experience working with DevOps team to build/configure/debug pipelines and automation
- Experience working on various Cloud Options (AWS/Azure - fully managed/IAAS) including practical expertise in migrating databases from on-premises to public cloud
- Experience in building and deploying data solutions in AWS and Azure
- Designing and implementing highly resilient Oracle database platforms, using distributed database
- A good understanding of Oracle RAC-related performance challenges
- Experience in configuring alerts and monitors using tools like DataDog, OEM, and OTEL to create a highly available platform
- Strong experience in production support and maintenance of high availability database systems with ability to manage large-scale database projects, including participation in US on-call schedule
- Expertise and experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools such as GitHub, Artifactory and Jenkins
- Think innovatively and have the ability to automate various administrative tasks using the Python, Groovy, Jenkins, Java, and/or shell scripting skills
- Ability to evaluate and propose best-of-breed tools and engineering best-practices
- 12+ experience in Oracle Database Administration / Performance Engineering / Replication Engineering across multiple platforms—Linux and Engineered systems
- Expertise in Golden Gate replication on Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) & Exadata

- Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation
- Provides guidance and mentoring to other engineers
- Represents technology solutions to our business partners
- May serve as on-call resource to support the organization's service and escalation model
- POC design solutions to prove best data engineering practices, keeping in mind effective utilization of database features and a performance-centric approach
- Participating in code review and unit testing and providing support on issues in development or production
