HVAC Technician II
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Pay: $32 – $39/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st Shift
Travel: Up to 50% overnight travel required
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician II to perform preventive, corrective, and general maintenance on HVAC systems across multiple client sites. This role is not tied to a single facility and requires flexibility to travel, including extended overnight assignments.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, a solid understanding of complex HVAC systems, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
HVAC Systems Maintenance & Repair
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and related equipment, including:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Rooftop Units (RTUs)
- Chillers and cooling towers
- Boilers and heat exchangers
- Pumps, valves, piping, and filtration systems
- Mini-split systems and ice machines
- Walk-in freezers and commercial kitchen refrigeration equipment
- Perform routine inspections and system assessments
- Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
- Respond to heating and cooling service requests in a timely manner
- Monitor system performance and record key readings (temperature, pressure, etc.)
- Conduct operational rounds and system testing
- Identify abnormalities and escalate issues as needed
- Support water treatment programs for chilled water, condenser water, and hot water systems
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building and critical systems
- Maintain accurate logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records
- Utilize CMMS to manage work orders and track maintenance history
- Maintain inventory of filters, refrigerants, and maintenance supplies
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical and motor control systems
- Work with single- and three-phase motors
- Run conduit and pull wiring as needed
- Support machinery and facility control systems
- Perform additional maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, drywall, and painting
- Assist with larger repair projects and team-based maintenance efforts
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow all OSHA and safety standards
- Properly handle and store refrigerants, oils, and other hazardous materials
- Use appropriate PPE at all times
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and emergency protocols
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of formal HVAC training program required
- Minimum of 6+ years of HVAC experience required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Applicable HVAC certifications required
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical functions
- Experience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and refrigeration systems
- Ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC and electrical systems
- Familiarity with CMMS systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and safety documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High attention to detail and organization
- Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
- This role requires up to 50% overnight travel, sometimes for multiple weeks at a time
- Position supports multiple client locations rather than a single site
- Strong reliability and flexibility are critical for success in this role
