Job Description
Job Title: Project Controls Specialist II
Location: Raleigh, NC 27601 (Hybrid)
Contract length: 3-year Contract
Pay: $50/hr - $55.60/hr
The Planet Group is seeking a Project Controls Specialist II that has had experience with project controls and worked with individuals of varying levels in various organizations and suppliers.
Project Controls Specialist II Qualifications
- Considered to have advanced acumen in project controls principles and requires a higher level of cognitive comprehension and application
- Demonstration comes from extensive and diverse work experience, or less experience coupled with higher levels of formal education
- Proficient use, understanding and application of project controls principles and associated project controls software tools.
- P6 experience

- PowerPlan
- SAP
- EcoSys
- Responsible for initiating and completing routine aspects of project control assignments including complex aspects of estimating, scheduling, change analysis and cost control
- Supports 1 to 2 project managers on varying ranked projects in accordance with Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) assignment criteria
- Responsible for performing various aspects of project control assignments using prescribed methods and tools
- Create periodic project analysis of gathered data through verification and validation to support project controls metrics
- Responsible for distributing and archiving project controls analysis as appropriate
- Track, trend, and initiate action for changes to the project scope, schedule, and cost
- Analyzes change requests, gains, approval, and distributes change requests in a manner compliant with internal governance, standards, and procedures
- Comprehends necessary changes and applies appropriate rules established for change control associated with contract terms and conditions
- Leads assigned benchmarking and self-assessment initiatives relevant to project controls functions
- Summarizes and communicates improvement opportunities, formulates adoption of Company and Industry best practices, incorporates actions to address gaps in performance
- Aids Project Managers (PMs) in Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) development, project schedules, cost estimates, track, and trend cash flow reports, change control documentation (scope, cost, or schedule) and/or any reports associated with project controls
- Tracks and reports project status performs variance, earned value and critical path analyses at a level appropriate for the project
- Work with Estimator(s) to create or create project cost estimate to establish effective cost controls management
- Assure that project estimate includes all necessary raw materials, resource / labor rates, manufactured materials / equipment as well as current industry data relative to project scope
- Manage the estimate according to PMCoE Estimating Standard and review cycle
- Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with customers, supports the resolution of quality issues and completes assignments (proposals, project tasks, reports, etc.) as negotiated
- Displays proficiency in conflict resolution and reaching win-win outcomes among team members
