Job Title: Accounting Analyst II
Location: Houston TX
Contract length: 6 month contract
Schedule: M-F flexible hours (7-4, 7:30-4:30, 8-5, 8:30-5:30) can adjust as needed*
Pay: 35 -40 per hour DOE
The Planet Group is seeking a Product Actualization Analyst that supports business units with monthly close activities, including recording actual results, booking accruals, and ensuring the accuracy of accounting transactions. This role partners closely with Commercial Operations and requires frequent collaboration with Product Schedulers, Billing, Refinery Analysts, Inventory & Exchange Analysts, Master Data, and Commercial Integration teams.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and initiate product purchases and sales (third-party and intercompany) in SAP S/4 using pipeline tickets and custody transfer documentation
- Perform monthly close activities, including booking accruals and actuals, and validating the accuracy of financial entries
- Monitor and manage service level agreements (SLAs) with offshore teams to ensure timely and accurate data processing
- Support the end-to-end deal-to-cash (deal-to-dollar) process through effective use of SAP S/4 and related systems
- Investigate and resolve volume discrepancies related to inventory reconciliation and invoice processing
- Partner with Schedulers and Traders to resolve issues and ensure accurate product actualization
- Assist with audit activities, including gathering documentation and validating financial data
- Track and manage deliverables to meet daily and monthly deadlines
- Support team initiatives, process improvements, and special projects as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Advanced Excel skills, including:
- XLOOKUP / VLOOKUP
- Pivot tables and pivot charts
- Data visualization and reporting
(Excel assessment required with submission)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Self-starter with a results-driven approach
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to influence and collaborate without direct authority
- Proven ability to build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience with SAP or SAP S/4 (training available)
- Experience in the Oil & Gas industry
