Job Description:
As a Physical Security and Wireless Communications Subject Matter Expert, the Senior Systems Design Engineer is responsible for leading complex technical projects from initial concept through successful implementation. This dual-faceted role requires a deep technical background in both Land Mobile Radio (LMR/DAS) and Physical Security Systems (ACS, CCTV, Intrusion). You will act as a key technical leader, providing guidance to internal and external partners to ensure integrated solutions meet client expectations, adhere to industry standards, and comply with all life safety and FCC regulations.
Responsibilities:
Technical Design & Engineering
- Leading and participating in workshops to gather functional/technical requirements and define use cases.
- Drafting comprehensive solution design documents, user stories, and process flows.
- Designing the CMDB class structure and data models required to support the digital asset inventory.
- Wireless & RF Modeling: Design and model LMR and DAS networks using industry-standard tools (iBwave preferred). Conduct RF propagation analysis, link budget calculations, and interference analysis.
- Security System Architecture: Serve as a SME for Physical Security systems, including Access Control (ACS), Video Surveillance (SVS/CCTV), and intrusion detection.

- Software Proficiency: Utilize Bluebeam Revu, and iBwave to develop and review technical markups and design documentation.
- End-to-End Oversight: Lead projects through the design, procurement, and installation phases, providing technical support to Project Management and Field teams.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs comply with federal, state, and local codes (NFPA), as well as FCC licensing requirements and industry best practices.
- Site Validation: Perform site surveys to validate RF designs, troubleshoot existing systems, and implement quality control audits to ensure high-standard deliverables.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with clients, vendors, and cross-functional internal teams.
- Communication: Attend weekly stakeholder meetings to provide technical updates, communicate design requirements, and manage project deadlines.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment through effective task delegation and technical coaching.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years in LMR/DAS design and RF engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience in physical security system design or project management.
- Proven expertise in DMR/LMR technologies, alongside deep knowledge of Access Control and Video Management Systems.
- High proficiency in Bluebeam.
- PMP, CPP, CSPM, or industry certifications.
- Hands-on experience with Motorola Solutions (MOTOTRBO), C•CURE, Axis, or FLIR.
- Advanced experience in iBwave commissioning and optimization or similar RF design and modeling tool.
- Familiarity with LEED, CPTED, and Fire/Life Safety codes.
