Job Title: Master Production Scheduler

Location: New Britain, CT 
Contract length: 3 months
Schedule: 40 hrs/week
Hybrid/Remote: Onsite
Pay: $35/hr to $40/hr, DOE

The Planet Group is looking for a Master Production Scheduler to join our well-known food manufacturer brand on a contract for three months. This role develops and manages the plant’s short term production schedules—monthly, weekly, and daily—while ensuring the right balance of inventory, cost, and customer service. The scheduler coordinates across production, QA, logistics, and planning, manages raw material inventory, leads weekly scheduling reviews, and adjusts plans for downtime or changes in demand.

Job Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Business or Logistics

  • 5+ years of planning experience

  • Proficiency with SAP

  • Advanced Excel skills, including statistical and spreadsheet analysis

  • Experience with MS Access

  • 2–3 years of logistical planning experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, and customer service

  • APICS certification

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


Job Responsibilities:

  • Create monthly, weekly, and daily production schedules based on plant capabilities.

  • Develop 4–8 weeks production requirements and lead weekly scheduling meetings.

  • Review daily inventory and shortage reports to adjust production plans.

  • Communicate schedule changes, maintenance needs, shutdowns, and training impacts.

  • Manage daily production plans and provide updates to all departments.

  • Support unplanned downtime by being on call and rescheduling production as needed.

  • Track actual vs. scheduled production performance.

  • Coordinate new product production needs with QA and R&D.

  • Maintain standard cost data and analyze inventory variances.

  • Review aged and concerned inventory (CIT reports) to minimize spoilage.

  • Work cross functionally with Production, QA, Planning, Customer Service, Accounting, and Logistics teams.

  • Maintain supply planning master data and manage raw material inventory investment.
