Location: Tuscola, IL (Onsite)

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (9–12 months)
Contract Pay: $55–$60/hour
Conversion Salary: Up to $120,000 + bonus (individual & company performance up to 15%)
Per Diem: $120/day (7 days/week)
Mobilization Mileage: GSA rate ($0.725/mile)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Plant Reliability Engineer to support operations at a chemical manufacturing facility in Tuscola, IL. This role focuses on improving manufacturing performance, equipment reliability, and process safety across production, packaging, and warehouse operations.
The engineer will provide technical support to plant operations, implement capital and improvement projects, and lead reliability initiatives that improve capacity, productivity, and safety. The role also plays a key part in mechanical integrity programs, failure analysis, and continuous improvement efforts across the site.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline

Minimum 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, engineering principles, and industrial equipment systems

Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and reliability improvement methodologies
-
Understanding of instrumentation systems, calibration, and distributed control systems
-
Familiarity with industrial safety practices such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and hot work permitting
-
Strong statistical analysis and equipment diagnostic skills
-
Project management experience including scheduling, contractor oversight, and safety compliance
Preferred Experience

Experience supporting chemical or process manufacturing facilities

Experience with mechanical integrity programs and asset reliability initiatives

Experience with process safety management (PSM) programs

Familiarity with process hazard analysis (PHA) and management of change (MOC) procedures
Key Responsibilities Operational & Technical Support
-
Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process and equipment issues
-
Identify opportunities to improve plant capability, capacity, and productivity
-
Apply statistical analysis and engineering methods to improve process control and product quality
Reliability & Mechanical Integrity
-
Investigate equipment failures and perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
-
Support the site mechanical integrity program by identifying recurring equipment issues and implementing improvements

Review maintenance work plans and preventative maintenance strategies
-
Develop Asset Care Plans to monitor equipment condition and reduce downtime
Capital & Improvement Projects

Support the design, procurement, and installation of new equipment

Develop and coordinate capital and expense improvement projects

Support new product introductions and process development initiatives

Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing equipment and processes
Process Safety & Compliance
-
Support Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives across the site

Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities for plant operations and capital projects

Ensure all changes follow Management of Change (MOC) procedures

Assist in training plant personnel on safety and operational procedures
Maintenance & Contractor Oversight

Monitor maintenance activities and capital projects for compliance with site standards

Coordinate with external contractors and ensure safe execution of work
