Job Description

A Safety Manager responsible for the overall leadership, support, strategy, and development of the EHS functions. Creating, implementing, and overseeing safety regulations in an industrial workplace - including experience in developing a proactive culture where safety is the number one priority. 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety engineering, industrial safety or engineering field with safety experience preferred.
  • Proficient use of the computer, including Safety Software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An undergraduate degree and/or 10 years of management experience may be substituted.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines. Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety. Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law. Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations to include equipment inspection and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and incident prevention.
  • Investigate incidents/accidents to discover causes and handle workers’ compensation claims to completion.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures to mitigate risks.
Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of management and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and provide knowledgeable evaluations and opinions to all levels within the organization.
  • Considerable knowledge of state and federal laws and court decisions relevant to proper management and safety.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze difficult and complex issues and to make recommendations for proper actions.
  • Ability to conduct research and to prepare analyses and reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives from other organizations and the general public.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; and vision for company growth opportunities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • CPE, CSP or CIH certifications a plus.

Salary: $75K - $125K DOE
