Job Title: Warehouse Technician 
Pay: $19-20/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (flexible start time, 8-hour shifts) + occasional Saturdays
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (Strong potential for permanent placement after 6 months)
Location: Romulus, MI area


About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Sorter/Operator to join a fast-paced environmental services operation. This role offers a contract-to-hire pathway with strong potential for permanent employment based on performance.

This position involves working hands-on with materials in an industrial/outdoor setting. If you have warehouse experience, strong attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset, this could be a great fit.


What You’ll Be Doing
  • Receive, inspect, sort, and label incoming containers and materials

  • Separate materials based on processing requirements and hazard classifications

  • Handle, package, and prepare materials for proper storage or disposal in accordance with safety and environmental regulations

  • Perform safe consolidation and repackaging of materials when required

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (sweeping, shoveling, general housekeeping)

  • Support additional site tasks as assigned

Most materials handled in this role will include used and unused aerosol containers. Accuracy in sorting processable vs. non-processable materials is critical.


Work Environment
  • Primarily outdoor and industrial setting

  • Physically active role

  • This is a dirty, hands-on position

  • PPE provided (steel-toe boots required on Day 1)

  • Uniforms provided


Qualifications

Required:

  • 0–2 years of relevant warehouse, sorting, or industrial experience

  • 24-hour HAZWOPER certification

  • Strong attendance and reliability

  • High attention to detail

  • Safety-first mindset

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Knowledge of DOT, EPA, or OSHA regulations

  • Experience handling or classifying hazardous materials

  • Experience with lab packing or waste segregation

  • Ability to safely wear and use full PPE
