Job Title: Metrologist
Location: Calabasas, CA
Contract length: 6 months
Schedule: Fulltime, 8a to 5p
Pay: $1,625/hr to $1,789.61/week

Job Overview:
The primary role of a Metrologist in Manufacturing Engineering is to design, implement, and monitor quality control programs. Key deliverables include, but are not limited to, recommending changes to methods, procedures, and standards to improve quality of output based on analysis of data and systems. Ensures products are built correctly to specification, quality standards, and appropriate regulatory compliance. Reports defects and tracks until resolution. The primary objectives of the Metrology specialization within the Manufacturing Quality job family are to perform precise measurements, analysis, and reporting. These activities support engineers in new part development, qualification, and validation as well as provide critical problem-solving and analytical support for Production and Quality Assurance on existing parts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Includes conducting Metrology testing, evaluation, analysis, and reporting, providing input to design engineers on test feasibility and requirements; conducting root cause analysis of dimensionally related problems
  • Support roles consist of:
    • Clerical, administrative, or specialized support tasks in an office or field setting
    • Specialized technical tasks or skilled craft work
    • Unskilled or semi-skilled operational tasks
  • Interacts internally to exchange information
  • Informal resources for colleagues with less experience
  • Works independently, likely to function as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Partner with Product Development, Supplier Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design specifications are measurable and robust
  • Develop and validate inspection methods for new components
  • Writing SOP and Work Instructions as required
  • Support RCA efforts by defining and executing appropriate measurement methods
  • Reduce reliance on external vendors for metrology setup and execution

Required Qualifications:
  • Has completed vocational training or obtained equivalent experience
  • CMM Programming (Mitutoyo COSMOS)
  • Use of several types of measuring instruments (optical comparator, vision systems

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience
  • Detailed knowledge of procedures and his/her administration; uses initiative to handle a wide variety of non-routine situations and conflicts
  • Identifies key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data
