Job Description
Maintenance Technician
Pay: $16-21/hr.
Location: Fort Monroe VA
1 month plus extension
Key Responsibilities
Safety- Follow all established safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while performing assigned tasks.
- Ensure all personnel on-site are adhering to required safety protocols and PPE standards.
- Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards immediately to the Project Manager or Operations Supervisor.
Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor or Project Manager, perform preventative and corrective maintenance on water, wastewater, stormwater, and roadway infrastructure systems. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning sanitary sewer and stormwater lines.
- Cleaning and maintaining manholes and catch basins.
- Reading and recording utility meter data.
- Conducting lift station inspections and routine checks.
- Collecting chlorine and water quality samples.
- Scraping, painting, and performing general facility maintenance.
- Flushing fire hydrants.
- Operating and exercising water distribution valves.
- Conducting smoke testing of sewer systems.
- Performing general housekeeping and site cleanup.
- Excavation, digging, and other labor-related tasks.
- Completing additional maintenance activities as assigned.
Perform repairs and improvements to utility and roadway infrastructure, including:
- Installing or replacing water, sewer, and stormwater piping.
- Repairing water leaks and damaged utility components.
- Patching pavement and restoring disturbed surfaces.
- Repairing or replacing manholes, catch basins, and related structures.
- Replacing worn or damaged equipment and components.
- Repairing and installing signs, posts, and other site assets.
- Completing additional repair activities as assigned.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed, including severe weather events, utility failures, lift station issues, water main breaks, and other client-related emergencies.
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and on-call response activities when required.
- Communicate completed work activities to the Deputy Project Leader for inclusion in monthly reporting.
- Empty, clean, and maintain portable restroom facilities.
- Assist with the delivery, setup, and relocation of signs, chairs, and other project-related materials.
- Empty trash receptacles and maintain clean, organized work areas.
- Ensure compliance with MISS Utility requirements and excavation/dig ticket procedures.
- Cross-train and perform duties of other team members as necessary to support project operations.
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders as required to facilitate work activities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities necessary to support the successful execution of the project.
