Civil CAD Drafter / Civil Designer
Location: Riverview, MI
Schedule: Onsite (No Remote / No Relocation)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (9 Months)
Pay: $25-$38/hr (flexibility for highly qualified candidates)
Our client, a well-established civil consulting firm serving municipal and land development markets, is seeking a Civil CAD Drafter / Civil Designer to join their growing team in Riverview, MI.
This individual will support both the Land Development and Landscape Architecture groups and play a key role in producing high-quality site development drawings and construction documents. The ideal candidate brings hands-on civil drafting experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and exposure to site design projects.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys technical drafting, collaborating with engineers, and contributing to projects from concept through construction support.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the direction of Civil Engineers, perform layout and design of civil site components including:
- Grading and earthwork
- Water distribution systems
- Sanitary sewer systems
- Septic systems
- Storm drainage
- Erosion and sediment control
- Parking lot and driveway layout
- Site signage
- Prepare and develop civil site construction documents using AutoCAD
- Support senior engineers and designers with production and design activities
- Assist in preparation and coordination of site development plans
- Conduct field visits to evaluate existing site conditions and inspect completed or ongoing work
- Review and respond to:
- RFIs (Requests for Information)
- Submittals
- Design revisions
- Construction-related documentation
- Coordinate with internal project teams to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or related field
- 2-7 years of Civil Drafting / Civil Design experience
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience in Civil Site Development projects including one or more of the following:
- Grading
- Water
- Sanitary Sewer
- Septic Systems
- Storm Drainage
- Erosion Control
- Parking / Driveway Layout
- Site Signage
- Working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Adobe products
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D drafting/modeling (preferred but not required)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline is a plus
- Previous experience supporting municipal, land development, or landscape architecture projects
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of background screening
- Valid driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability to conduct occasional site visits as needed
